| "Atrapados" [No way out] deals with youth given to drugs and violence, with their destiny in a “good” society and with the reasons that push young people to embrace such life. It talks about the sorrow of many boys and girls from Lima who contributed with their testimonies, writings and silences. It is easy to be moved by images of young people in difficulty and by reading their absurd stories, made of family violence and survival in the street, between drugs and crime. This work certainly will not change their lives or to bring back to life all those photographed and that have died amid general indifference. It will hopefully serve to answer questions like: “Is it right for society to consider youth living on the street like garbage? How to reduce violence in the family? How to control the private drug-rehabilitation centers who operate with no skills and resources? Are thre alternatives to imprisonment? |
