| Renata Romagnoli / Kairos. Cogliere l'attimo |
It’s part of a work in progress started in December 2007 and finalized to the creation of an editorial project on boxing. All started by chance participating in an event to the streets in the neighborhood of Garbatella in Rome in August 2007, with the idea of making sports photos. But there, on site, designed fear on the faces of boxers, the will to win, the aggressiveness, anxiety, tension, those movements close to a dance, those looks lost in the emptiness, the sadness after a loss and the relaxation after the meeting had impressed the soul most of the film.
As Joyce Carol Oates, every boxing match is a story, a drama unique, highly condensed without words. The ritual sound of the gong is an injunction to be vigilant for both boxers to the spectators. The boxers take to the fight all that they are, and all will be revealed - even those most intimate secrets of which they do not realize the full account. .. Their eyes are empty, shelled and they fix you continuously. Yes, it's that empty look that in the end throw you down. ...
This is what I want to tell hrough the selected images, thoughts, feelings, loneliness, fear, pain, joy, moments that, while similar, are different. |
