Simcha Shirman

Israeli artist and photographer active in the seventies, Simcha Shirman has exhibited in New York, Johannesburg, San Francisco, Tel Aviv, Berlin and Rome. In 1999 he was called to set up, with a specific project site, the Israeli pavilion in the Biennale of Venice, while in 1995 he had already represented his country in the Biennale of Contemporary Art in Johannesburg. His images have been selected for prestigious group in Paris, Tokyo, Rome, Jerusalem, Milan, Haifa and New York.
In addition to the exhibition, Simcha Shirman continues for many years as a teacher of photography for major academies such as the Israeli Bezalel in Jerusalem and the University of Haifa. Currently he is also Head of Department at Beit Berl College School of Arts in Israel.
His approach to teaching is unconventional, aimed at establishing a strong relationship with the students, which is not limited to working within the traditional classes. Shirman tip on continuous and obstinate labor that students perform under his leadership.
Expert conductor of workshops at the international level, Shirman proposes to his student an experience that will take him to cross the boundaries of traditional photography to discover the real potential of this medium of expression. This path will allow the user of the workshop to identify accurately their own path and strongly self-expressive creative and to understand in depth the value of visual communication.
Dialogue, heated, thorough analysis, practical field and subsequent verification are the pillars on which Shirman sets his work with the students, who will have with the teacher continuous and constructive open exchange.
The purpose of the workshops held by Simcha Shirman is to encourage young photographers to identify a world expressive personal style and a personal photo and translate their ideas into photographs that bring out the poetic talent and potential.
