Simona Filippini/Eva Tomei/Benedetta Cestelli Guigi
Desperate Housewife
Is a widespread belief among enthusiasts of photography that to report something beautiful, interesting and with value you have to go far from home. Often the documentation of a long journey, preferably rough and accompanied by a minimal dose of danger, always, and that you need, a war, a riot, a natural disaster, or at least a bit of exoticism.
Images perceived as extraordinary phenomena, taken away from us, have formed our photo memory , apparently with good reason in an age where only the lucky few photographers could tell the world. Today, and for many years, the world is an open book, constantly scrutinized by the satellite is no longer the extension to be interested, but the depth of certain phenomena, their causes, individual stories. Not that the trip has lost its meaning, is still very strong emotion for a photographer to portray western Amazonian population, an African child, a Chinese worker and the joy of everyone to review the images obtained and taken as testimony of our being elsewhere.
The world is now full of photographers, we can say that in the Western world, from 6 to 90 years, we are all photographers. So, with this workshop for the women photographers we really want to emphasize the daily "journey" in its most intimate, domestic dimension of the "adventure" that inevitably brings.
Tina Modotti said that women, anchored to the cycles of life, by their very nature lack concentration, always distracted by everyday life. Modotti indicated the limit, the boundary or the starting point from which our project begins: we want to focus just where women are more present in everyday life in the home.
What would the history of photography without families and children of various kinds of Arbus? The pairs of Nan Goldin? The home life of the ferrato? Just to name a few. women are looking to enter daily in small folds in the small details, small large universes it contains.
